Mike Anderson Racing

Built in the
paddock.

Mike Anderson’s racing story lives where driving, preparation, fabrication, and development meet. Decades in the paddock built the knowledge—and the determination—to pursue speed across five very different race cars.

Every lap starts long before the green flag.

Where it began

Raised at
the racetrack.

I grew up in the paddock watching my dad race the cars he built himself. Long before I became a driver, I was learning how race cars worked, helping wherever I could, and watching every lap.

Those early years taught me that speed is built through hard work, preparation, and an understanding of the entire car. The lessons I learned beside my dad became the foundation for everything that followed.

A number carried forward.

My dad, Dwayne Anderson, was a 10-time SCCA Division Champion from Southern California. I grew up watching him build and race his own cars—and watching the number 42 lead the way. That is why I have always carried #42 on my own race cars: it is more than a number; it is a family legacy. He also raced in SCCA E Production, which made building and developing my own E Production BMW years later especially meaningful.

Racing history

A life shaped
by competition.

The cars changed, but the process remained the same: learn the machine, improve the preparation, and keep searching for speed.

The foundation

Learning the craft

Years spent working on race cars developed the mechanical understanding and discipline that would later shape Mike as a driver, builder, and developer.

The professional years

National-level competition

Sports Toyota, Formula Mazda, and Pro Formula Mazda placed Mike in deep, demanding fields where preparation, engineering, and execution had to come together every weekend.

The continuing pursuit

Building, restoring, and racing

The E36 BMW and Swift DB1 brought the story full circle—cars shaped by hands-on work, constant development, and the desire to return to the track stronger.
